"Support offered for adopted people, by adopted people"

I am searching for my birth relatives, how can G.A.P. help?

At G.A.P. we understand the importance for many adopted people to find their roots, to understand where they come from, who they look like and to have knowledge of their family medical background.  G.A.P. does not offer formal counselling but will point you in the right direction for advice and support with searching.  We do provide an opportunity to meet with those in a similar situation on a monthly basis.

Can you tell me about the monthly meetings?

Meetings are held at the Rock Community Centre in Stirling, 61-63 Murray Place, Stirling.  Click here to see how to get there.

This is an informal meeting where members can chat over a cup of coffee about any issues to do with their adoption and seek support with searching for birth relatives.

We have a small library of books on adoption for reference.

On occassion we invite guest speakers along who have personal or professional knowledge of adoption - see "What's On" page for details

What do G.A.P. members say?

This is what a sample of G.A.P. members have said:

"It has been great to meet other adopted people who understand why I am feeling the way I do."

"G.A.P. meetings are friendly and informal and we laugh a lot as well as pass around the tissue box!"

"Meeting other adopted people really spurred me on to contact my birth family and put some of the missing jigsaw pieces together."

"I am so glad that I traced my birth relatives and had G.A.P. there supporting me all the way"
